Official goodbye to summer!

Well, summer is officially over! And now its back to school. This year I will be a sophomore and not at the bottom of the food chain! Woohoo! I can't believe how fast this year is going! I feel like I blinked and the summer is over.
For the past month, I've been in band camp. Yes- it is TONS of work, sweat, and sometimes torture, but in the end it all just makes us better! My freshman year(it feels good to say that) I absolutely hated band camp! Iwanted to quit. But obviously, I didn't. Our show this year is called Sway! It's a really cool show. Last year i didn't really understand our show, but this year I do. We are going on a trip over spring break to Texas, but we aren't quite sure in Texas where we will be going, but I'm excited! Some of my closest friends will be graduating this year and I'm gonna be really sad next year to not have them in band! But I can always make new friends.
Our first home football game is on friday! Which means our first real marching performance! WHOOOO! Gotta love those Penn football games! Hopefully it won't rain as much this season as it did last. When ever it rains, we can't wear our uniforms. So we have to wear jeans and ponchos for pre-game. And let me tell ya, they are the sexiest looking things! Haha. NOT! I hate wearing them. But if we must, we must. In 12 hours, I will be in school. That's hard to believe! Hope this is a good season for everything. Go Kingsmen!!

Goodbye summer :(

Well, my 6-week summer is officially gone! You know what that means! Yep, that's right...band camp!! The best way to end your summer...NOT!
Yesterday was my first day of camp for the 2010-2011 season. And let me say, that didn't go as planned! We hired this new drill guy to help with our show, but he changed how we march, how we hold our instruments, and how we stand. This is a big difference for everybody! So, it's gonna take some getting used to. I know that it's a huge change for the seniors because they've been doing something different for 3 years! Not everyone is happy about this, but I guess it will help in our appearance at competitions. And that's always a good thing.
Today has been horrible! My best friend quit marching band so she could go play with her softball team she doesn't even like and I found out that my idol, Jennie Finch(olympic softball player), is retiring from softball next month! But hopefully when I get to band today, my friends will make my day tons better! I surely hope so.
I cannot believe how fast summer has gone so far. We start school in like a month! Even less than that now! But I will be a sophomore, so I will know how everything is done at Penn. I'm excited to just get back to school so I can see friends that I havent seen since the last day of school last year. I want to find out who is in my classes & all that fun stuff! This weekend is my last softball tourney of the summer! :'( That's sad. But then I can start practicing with the Penn team and hopefully make it this year! That would be awesome.
Even though my summer is over basically, I can still have fun on what little time I will have on the weekends. But since softball will be over with next week, I will just have nothing but band! Whoo! Can't wait for that:)

Awesome, but hot weekend!

Well, after 15 days in Ohio I'm finally home! I have been since Thursday! That was a fun visit, but I've never realized how nice it is to be home. I guess the quote, "You never realize how much you love something until it's gone" is true!
This past weekend, I played in a softball tournament. A hot, but good weekend. We had three games on Saturday. One at 9, 12:30, and 5(i think). We lost the first two games, but came back and won our last game. Well, because of how we seeded in the tourney, we had an 8am game the next morning! And since we werent staying in Columbia City overnight, my mom & I had to get up at 4:45 the next morning! That was a LONG day. We won our game against Jimtown! So that meant that we would advance to the next round, and that has never happened to us this season. Our next game wasnt until 2. So we had like 3 and a half hours to burn. Fort Wayne, here we come!
My mom & I decided to go to Glenbrook mall to walk around in the air conditioning. Well, we get out of the car & walk up to the door to find out that the mall doesn't open until noon. Now, why noon? I'm not sure. But I wasn't happy. Instead we went and walked around in Barnes & Noble. After we got bored in there we went to Border's. I knew that if I didn't eat soon, my food wouldn't settle in time for the game. So, mom & I decided to go to Subway. I love Subway! We shared a tuna sub(which is very good by the way). It was around noon when we left to go to Walmart & just walk around. After walking around in Walmart for about 15 minutes I said that we should go back to the ballpark so I can just sit with my team.
I love my team! We all have fun together. After sitting and talking for a few minutes, we discover a wondering kitten! This kitten looked like it was like 8 weeks old. So like 3 girls went and got the cat & we took it in as your mascot & named her Shake(long story)! When it was time for our game, Shake ran off & we never saw her again!
Well, during our game against an awesome team, one of our players got hurt! Our second baseman dove to get a ball & popped her shoulder out of place. Poor kid. I felt so bad for her! She's probably gonna be out for the rest of the season! We lost that game, but we fought a good battle! I think we got like 6th place, but I'm not sure. SO much better than our last tournament! Great job guys! And there's no place like home! :-)

Almost there, I can do it!

Gross!! I hate hot weather! Why now? Why is July always hot? Hopefully I wont pass out at marching band in a few weeks.
So far, this summer has been good! For the past 3 weeks I have been on the move. In June my family & I went to Mackinaw Island! What an awesome place for vacation. We had an awesome time with family & just enjoyed the beautiful view of the Mackinaw Bridge from our campsite! You could even see the island. I want to live there, but my parents said no! We were there for 5 days. And let me tell ya, they were a LONG 5 days.
After the 5 LONG days in Mackinaw, I got to leave with my aunt & uncle to go stay with them in Ohio. For the past 13 days, I have been having a lot of fun! I love just being away from everything and having some alone time with my family. I think we all know what that is like! I've been babysitting, getting up early, and being a teenager. But who doesn't love toddlers? I am supposed to be staying here for 11 more days, but I miss softball! I miss my friends & Indiana! I'm almost done. I'm leaving Thursday, but as I look back on it, I know I will miss this place! But, I can always come back. Gotta get back to work!

Start of an adventure! (:

Well, what an exciting way to end the month! Mackinaw was SOO much fun. My family all around me, stories, smores, games. Even though it was cold almost every night, it was still uber fun.
Today is the start of babysitting my one year old cousin & helping take care of my uncle for the next 3 weeks. Exciting- of course! Getting to stay out of town by myself & spending some quality time with my family (who i only see like 4 times a year). This should be an adventure! Woohoo(:

Wowza!

First blog post ever!!
I'm very scared of thunderstorms. Anybody who knows me well, definitely knows that. When bad weather started to come in, I thought it was pretty cool how everything looked. Now, normally I would be like crying, freaking out, etc. But, today was different. The way the clouds looked, the wind, the sound of the thunder in the distance, and the very colorful flashes of lightning. Seriously, my sister & I saw purple lightning. I wonder why lightning changes colors. That's pretty cool, if i do say so myself! Well, my one month trip starts tomorrow! Mackinaw(c) here I come!! :-)
